“If I remember correctly, I have been the representative for seven years.”
One day you find yourself as busy as a beaver and the next could be as exciting as watching paint dry. This is, according to Innus Jansen van Rensburg, how his days go by while working for the municipality as a representative of Gardenia Park.
“I do not have a typical day at work because I handle a variety of issues as they appear.”
How did it happen that Jansen van Rensburg came to represent Gardenia Park when it came to matters of Parliament?
“I was approached by a councilman to make myself available for the position as representative (at the metro municipality) and I was then selected.”
Jansen van Rensburg has been a resident of Gardenia Park for 45 years. He knew most of the people here which made him the perfect candidate to represent the community.
Jansen van Rensburg is not bound by a certain term, he will be occupying the position as long as the residents will have him as their representative.
The challenges Jansen van Rensburg is facing these days, being the norm, such as Metro – no service delivery. As well as low water pressure, potholes and blocked sewage pipes.
“Begging and begging for service delivery is the only way out.”
Jansen van Rensburg is not only a man of the municipality, but a family man.
“Our grandkids visit us during the day, and I am an aviculturist.”
